MY STORY: A Little Story About How my Love for Fitness Began
I have lived in beautiful “Surf City” Huntington Beach my entire
life and LOVE it here! I am blessed to be a mother of four
beautiful children. However, I noticed after my second child (9
lbs 4oz) my body did not recover as quickly as before. It may
also have had something to do with eating candy bars everyday. I
was unhappy, so I decided to do something. After purchasing an
aerobics video and consistently working out for about a month,
my body was back!
From then, I continued to do aerobic videos at home and soon
joined a gym. Fitness became part of my daily life I for the
most part participated in aerobics classes and after eight
years, a friend who had been a Miss Fitness USA finalist (and
had an amazing body) introduced me to the weight room. Like many
women, I had stayed away from lifting because I was intimidated
and did not want to “bulk up”. My friend generously shared her
time and her knowledge and I began to see changes. I had
discovered my arms and back became sculpted and defined, while
my lower body became tight and toned.
For the next year, I spent the majority of my workouts in the
weight room. I decided I needed to put cardio back into my
regime. Thinking I was in great physical condition, I ran three
miles my first time out. The following day, I literally could
not walk. It was a week before I was able to run again. During
that “off” time I did some homework. After some needed knowledge
and less than three months, I ran my first 10K race. As soon as
I crossed that finish line, I knew I wanted to run a marathon.
Since then I have enjoyed competing in many 5K, 10K and Half
marathons, and six Full marathons. I have also competed in about
18 Camp Pendleton Mud Run races; even placing 1st, five times.
