More About Me:
I have lived in beautiful “Surf City” Huntington Beach my entire
life and I love it here! I am blessed to be the mother of four
beautiful children; Jason 24, Shelly 19, Courtney 18, and
Garrett 16. After the birth of my second child my body did not
seem to recover as quickly as it did after my first child (maybe
it had something to with the candy bars I was eating everyday,
not to mention, the fact that the baby weighed 9 pounds 4
ounces). I did not like what I was saw, so I decided to do
something about it. I purchased my first workout video, “The
Firm Volume 1”. After working out with it consistently for 3-4
weeks my body was back! This is how my love for fitness began
and became a part of my daily life.
I continued exercising doing aerobics on video at home or
classes at the gym. Two more babies and 8 years later I was
introduced to the weight room by a friend had been a Miss
Fitness USA finalist and had a stunning body. I had stayed away
from the weight room because I was intimidated and afraid of
looking stupid. I like so many women thought if I lifted weights
I would bulk up and look like the body builder women who looked
more like men. After training with this women who shared her
time and knowledge with me I began to see changes; my arms and
back became more sculpted and defined. and my lower body became
tight and toned.
For the next year I spent the majority of my workout time in the
weight room focusing on developing strength and definition in my
upper body. I decided that I needed to put cardio back into my
workout program so I started running. Thinking I was in great
physical condition, I ran 3 miles my first time out. The next
day I literally could not walk. It was a week before I could
attempt to run again. During that time I purchased and read a
book about running. It had a running program for beginners that
I began to follow. In less than 3 months I ran my first 10k
race. As soon as I crossed the finish line I knew that I wanted
to run a marathon. I have since enjoyed the experience of
competing in 5k and 10k races, and half and full marathons. I
have completed 6 full marathons, including the 1999 New York
City Marathon. I also competed in the Camp Pendleton, El Toro
Marine Base and Mira Mesa Marine Base Mud Runs placing 1st in 5
out of the 6 races we entered. My goal is to one day compete in
a triathlon.
